An old battle begins again; Ramses and Cleopatra have both been awakened by an elixir that brings the dead back to life but at what consequences? The world has moved on since their time but evil still abounds. This story picks up where the author left it in the previous book. Readers are able to find out what happened after all this time. We learn what happened to Cleopatra after her battle with Ramses. They both are trying to live their lives, but the time has come for them to reunite. Ramses and Julie are moving along, and Cleopatra is dealing with her own problems but who can they trust when evil comes looking? There are surprises along the way for these are not the only immortals around. Someone is on the hunt and it looks like Ramses and Cleopatra could be in their sights. What will happen when they all cross paths and the chaos begins?
I was happy to see this book come out. It does help to tie up some plot lines from the previous book, but it did not have me engrossed in the plot as much. This story has some interesting characters that grabbed my attention but not all the characters have depth and emotions that pull you in. If you have read the previous book you will understand and enjoy this book much more.  Ramses and Cleopatra are not the only immortals around and there seems to be others who have an agenda all their own.
I enjoyed the adventure that all the characters embark on. The book does start off a bit slow, but it soon gains speed. There were some new characters brought in that hopefully will get more to say in the future. Once the book picked up I enjoyed the ride. While many of the characters did not endear themselves to me I did enjoy their adventure. Cleopatra and Ramses are strong characters. Seeing the plot develop and watching the characters find their way made for a nice read. Anne Rice and Christopher Rice do a nice job of combining their voices in this book. This was a nice continuation of the Ramses and Cleopatra story.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
